Let’s face it: traffic tunnels are cool. Perhaps it’s their artificially lit, subterranean nature, coupled with the unspoken thrill of passing smoothly, at high speed, through an entirely manmade structure. Maybe it’s their place in Hollywood’s celluloid iconography, light tracing the contours of our protagonist’s face as they race toward, or away from, one crisis or another.

360 Vision Technology announces significant energy cost savings for Elexon Charge Code Users

Capitalising on the unrivalled low power consumption of their CCTV surveillance cameras, 360 Vision Technology is delighted to announce that its Invictus range of PTZ cameras have been assigned their own Elexon Charge Codes, with the benefit of substantially lower energy bills for organisations operating Public Space Surveillance (PSS) systems.

Public sector bodies, such as local authorities and urban traffic control, are charged for their Unmetered Supply (UMS) outdoor powered devices via a Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC). Elexon manages the BSC, and makes sure that electricity suppliers are paid, and customers are billed, according to the specific Charge Codes relating to a products’ power consumption. For CCTV systems, the generic Elexon Charge Code predominantly accredited to surveillance cameras is tagged at 100 Watts power draw. This means that electricity consumption is typically billed at 100W per camera deployed.

International Security Journal: The last word

Sara Fisher, Sales Director, 360 Vision Technology explains how the company has dealt with the challenges of the past 12 months

What significant industry changes have you seen over your 20 years in security?

The most significant change would be the transition from analogue to IP. Before I joined 360 Vision, I was working for over 20 years for a company called AMG Systems, which worked across networking and security. There was a lot of excitement about IP but overall it wasn’t a big revelation 20 years ago. We had transport systems at AMG that I know went down the IP route and actually then came back to analogue.

Those early systems were quite interesting, but I would imagine it is in the last five years that we have seen the biggest impact of the change, for example I would estimate about 95% of our business at 360 Vision is now IP-based.

The rugged build quality of the new Invictus PTZ camera from UK CCTV manufacturing company, 360 Vision Technology, has been proven in the field during a recent road traffic incident in north London, which provided a real-world test for the camera and its ‘Attack Detect’ response feature.

On detection, the camera’s direct-drive Pan & Tilt mechanism is instantaneously disengaged to prevent damage to the motor drive. A self-check routine then establishes if the camera has altered its direction of view during the attack, and an automatic re-initialisation is triggered – returning the camera to its last known position prior to the impact.
